Place value helps us determine the value of numbers. The value of a digit depends on its position in the number. E.g. Find the value of 7 in 56 874. Write 7 as it is, and make the rest of the numbers zeros. 56 874 => 00 070. So, the value of the digit 7 is ’70’.
