Place value helps us determine the value of numbers. The value of a digit depends on its position in the number. E.g. Find the value of 4 in 124 580. Write 4 as it is, and make the rest of the numbers zeros. 124 580 => 004 000. So, the value of the digit 4 is ‘4000’.
